"You need more time to shine babe. Or a more even time share."

I could be... a star! A STAR!!

David did the lion's share this week; I made only four picks. The system currently is, one of us does a list, then the other adds whatever he thinks should make the cut. I wrote up the list this week, which I'm waiting for Dashing Dave to deftly deliberate on.

I was so going to buy Jonah Hex, but I think I forgot. Or maybe it came out after I went to the store. Yeah, thaaat was it.

Seriously, though, I'd buy it just to drool over Cooke's artwork*. Then when the movie comes out, I can switch to drooling over Megan Fox. Maybe. I haven't made up my mind about her yet.

And yeeeah, I think we need to figure out a way to make this shorter. I tried to pare down this week's list and it was still huge. Maybe we can set a limit of three or five per category?

*you can probably tell who wrote the Jonah Hex paragraph by now :p

"I’m far more interested in Smith’s film career than comics at this point, but if this series is based on what he wrote for a possible movie, I’ll definitely look into it….wait for it Goki….once it’s in trade (so 2012).

ZING

Spiff: "Expect a review... May 2015!"

I dunno, I might check out the Hornet movie. Seth Rogen's great, but if he's going for superhero comedy, he has to make sure it's funny, not campy. We've had plenty of bad campy superhero movies already ("Robin, will you touch my... BAT-NIPPLES")

Read Booster Gold. Pretty good issue; possibly one of the best issues in a while. It has a few gaffes (I think Blue Beetle and Barbara Gordon mutually decided they preferred being just friends), but nothing major. I really like the way Dan Jurgens writes Black Lantern Blue Beetle. I think I'd take this Black Beetle over the other one any day!

I really like this idea, but honestly, without you posting saying you wrote more than you let on, I assumed you just wrote those little add on's Goki. You need more time to shine babe. Or a more even time share. Though, that would endanger this to becoming longer and it's already borderline long already. But I enjoyed it, as always.

How are Psylocke's boobs looking?

I had never heard of Whiplash, but it's Mickey Rourke in the movie, so I'm all kinds of pumped.

I wish you had liked Strange #1 so I could vicariously learn about it through you David. Dammit.

I bet one of us will try Jonah Hex in preparation for the upcoming movie with Josh Brolin. Maybe it'll even be me.

I agree wholeheartedly with the Marvel Batman and Joker idea, but if I was reading comics, I would get it anyways. It's simple: Mark Millar is one of the best in the business (and he particularly shines in elseworlds what with Red Son and then his Ultimates success with X-Men and Ultimates) and McNiven is one of the better artists too, though I liked his Crossgen work more than his Marvel stuff (though he had some beautiful stuff in Civil War, it wasn't all great. his faces look too familiar).

At the time the Green Hornet was being greenlighted (it's not even a pun and it's still lame), I was really disappointed that Kevin Smith wasn't involved. He apparently chickened out. I'm far more interested in Smith's film career than comics at this point, but if this series is based on what he wrote for a possible movie, I'll definitely look into it....wait for it Goki....once it's in trade (so 2012).

What do you guys think of the fact that Seth Rogen is the Green Hornet in the upcoming movie? If I took the character seriously, I might be upset. But I love Seth Rogen, so why not?

I second pretty much everything about Blackest Night: Flash, although I'm not sure I know which plot development you're referring to. Does it have to do with Reverse Flash/Thawne? His status is, to put it mildly, a little complicated...

I am so happy you actually asked him about gardening. I will gladly give up the question I submitted ("if the Guardians are so untrustworthy, why do the Green Lanterns keep working for them?") if it means they'll ask your gardening question instead.

"We’ll totally have to do our own version!"

Then it's settled! We'll do it!

You know, I think Smith's Green Hornet's going to turn out pretty well. Despite his recent output, this is based off a movie script he wrote years ago, back when his writing was more on the ball.

"I’ve never been a big fan of books that create characters very clearly based on other companies’ big guns. There are exceptions, of course, because there’s a limited number of power sets, but when you’re clearly doing Batman and Joker for Marvel — meh, no thanks."

I can understand that: I mean, how many Superman and Batman analogues have we seen already, right? But at the same time, analogues have their advantages. You can take them in directions you couldn't take the characters they're based off, like Alan Moore did with his Charlton Hero analogues in Watchmen. Or you can incorporate the best elements of the original character into your analogue without worrying about what isn't in continuity anymore, like Alan Moore did with Superman in Supreme. Say, Alan's sure worked a lot with analogues, doesn't he? He's one of those guys who can really pull it off. I think Mark Millar, who's no stranger to analogues himself (see the evil Avengers in his Authority run and his modernized Avengers in The Ultimates), can do the same.

I accidentally spoiled the ending for Green Lantern Corps #42 and my soul cried blubbery man tears. I was actually going to write up a post about what happened, but someone did such a better job than I could've:
http://secondprinting.blogspot.com/2009/11/kyle-rayner-adult.html

Kudos to Bendis for doing a good job with Molecule Man. And I agree with you about Batman and Robin. I thought the story was good, but I have no clue what happened to Phillip Tan's art. To think he started off his run so well!

I got Booster Gold as well, although I haven't read it yet. I didn't get Dark X-Men, but I did see the ending. I'm reserving judgment on that: I mean, it's yet another example of the X-Men "reverting" to the '90s (Apocalypse's and Stryfe's resurrection, Magneto pulling a reverse "Fatal Attractions," etc.), but I think this particular development could be handled very well.

Sad to hear Flash: Rebirth and Strange didn't quite make the grade. I'm not too surprised about Rebirth, but I was hoping Strange would be fun, at least. I might still check it out... although I did go to the store today and forgot about it, so that doesn't quite bode well :b

It really, really has. Man, issue #5 ended with such a huge twist! Great stuff. Blackest Night is also pretty accessible, so you can hop onboard even if you've fallen a little behind on Green Lantern. In fact, most of the Green Lantern stories that lead up to Blackest Night are in TPB now, so maybe you could pick those up...
