A Night in The Life of The Warriors Three

July 31, 2008

And now, we have something really special. Here are uncensored excerpts from Three-Ways from days past. I like to think we’re hilarious. Click on for some chatroom gold. And hopefully, Goki and AA are okay with me sharing these, because it’s fairly incriminating.

The End of July: Not Built for Comics, 7/30/08 Recommendations

July 31, 2008

Very light week of comics, so I didn’t get to this until tonight, because it really doesn’t change a lot. Although, who are we kidding? Me doing this early or late matters very little, because only 2 people at most will read this.

PROJECT: Y

July 30, 2008

Another project has been completed; this one I haven’t gotten to writing about as quickly, nor will I write as much on it. But here it is, my thoughts on the brilliant 60-issue run of Y: The Last Man.

AA’s Judgment: Comics of 7/23/08

July 30, 2008

This is about as late as you can get, so while I wrote a lot on the first one, most of these reviews are brief and to the point. It was a solid but unspectacular week. There were two issues I really liked, but didn’t exactly love, so I don’t think I’ll have a “Best” segment this week. Another issue was decent, and the fourth was predictably bad.

Spiffy Speaks: Reviews for 7/23/08

July 30, 2008

Sorry I’m late, I had a quick family reunion in Lake Tahoe this weekend. It was a delight, and so were some of the comics this week, with a huge surprise at #1. Read on for the list of 5 I bought last week. I can’t think of a better primer for next week than to read what you missed out on last week. Or something like that.

Also, from now on, the cover you see above this blurb will be graced by the BEST cover of the week. Not the best issue per se, but the best cover. Let’s reward them with this, the world’s highest achievement. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the honor this week goes to Alex Ross’ painted wraparound cover of Uncanny X-Men #500.

Comic Recommendations For 7/23/08

July 24, 2008

I honestly completely forgot this column until this afternoon, and am just now getting to it. I’m sure it’ll be as dreadful as usual, but there’s some great stuff to check out this week, so read on.

AA’s Judgment: Comics of 7/16/08

July 22, 2008

Alrighty nerds and nerdettes: Are you gearing up for another week of comics, but still aren’t completely sure how you should have felt about last week’s? You’re in luck, because your Uncle AA is about to explain to you what you should have liked and not liked with his weekly rundown of The Best, the Worst, and all The Rest. If you thought you felt otherwise, now you’ll be able to hastily change your opinion.

There’s slight spoilers in the “Worst” section, but trust me, they won’t make any difference if your enjoyment.

Just A Quickie: Movie Review for Batman: The Dark Knight

July 21, 2008

Because we at GGG run busy lives, we didn’t have a review for the movie of the year on Friday, when it might have actually mattered. Nope, Sunday was the soonest I could get to it. That said, everyone and their mother has already seen this movie, leading Dark Knight to break the record for opening weekend box office, topping last year’s mediocre cash cow Spider-Man 3 (which apparently still sold more tickets than Batman). Iron Man, Hulk and now Batman have shown that the superhero genre is anything but over this summer. It’s not possible to gush about this movie enough, but due to the fact that it’s hard to say anything original about how awesome and incredible The Dark Knight is at this point, I’ll try and keep this short.

Simply put, it’s the best comicbook movie of all time. And really, that’s my review, but if you want the obligatory raves about the cast and action and Christopher Nolan, click on. But I wouldn’t be insulted if you didn’t.

Spiffy Says: Reviews for 7/16/08

July 19, 2008

This week was exceptional (note: prepare for a lot of repetitive adjectives in this post). We got it all: the continuation of one of the finest sagas in comics, a giant sized issue featuring the two darkest “heroes” in comics, another issue of the finest mini series that’s NOT a crossover, another Final Crisis tie-in done well and another Secret Invasion tie in done in true mediocre fashion. Read on for one of the most top heavy weeks in recent memory.

Comics Are Hella Tight, Yo: Recommendations for 7/16/08

July 17, 2008

Well whadda ya know, it’s only been 6 days since the last time comics graced us with our presence. Time flies when you read our solits (it took me an hour to reread them!). This week has some good stuff coming out, probably. Read on. But prepare yourself, this post sucks. If this post was a chick, you would only dock her.
